How Animal Assisted Therapy Can Help?

Animal assisted therapy (AAT) is a type of therapy that involves the use of animals, typically dogs, as a therapeutic intervention. AAT can be beneficial for people of all ages and can be used to address a variety of physical, emotional, and mental health concerns. Some examples of conditions or challenges that animal assisted therapy may be able to help overcome include:

Physical health issues: AAT can be used to help individuals with physical disabilities, chronic pain, or other physical health conditions improve their physical function and mobility.

Emotional challenges: AAT can be helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, loneliness, or other emotional challenges. The presence of an animal can provide comfort and support, and can help individuals feel more relaxed and calm.

Mental health concerns: AAT has been shown to be effective in improving cognitive functioning and memory, and may be helpful for individuals with mental health conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or trauma-related disorders.

It is important to note that the specific benefits of animal assisted therapy will depend on the individual and their specific needs and goals. It is always best to consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine if AAT is appropriate for you or a loved one.

About

I assist individuals in finding stress relief and improving their quality of life through animal assisted therapy.

As a child, I was always fascinated by dogs and wanted to learn more about them. Alongside my love for animals, I also had a strong interest in understanding human behavior and psychology. This curiosity eventually led me to study psychology in college.

During my studies, I learned about animal assisted therapy and the special bond between humans and animals. After completing my Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from Bangor University in the UK, I went on to earn a certification in Animal Assisted Therapy from BSY University.

In my work with children with autism, I found myself increasingly drawn to incorporating animal assisted therapy into my practice. This sparked a deeper interest in dog psychology, leading me to continue my learning journey in this field.

Finally, in 2022, I founded DogAAT to bring the benefits of animal assisted therapy to a wider audience.

Dogaat was really helpful in informing kids about how to treat dogs, both pets and strays. The session was conducted wonderfully with children able to learn to pet them, comb them and give them treats.
The session is best for children above the age of 3, when they can understand much better.

All my childhood I was very fond dogs, however due to one accident a fear got stuck within me when it came to them. Even after several tries I was unable to overcome the fear. Then i attended one session by DogAAt, and now slowly yet positively I am able to overcome my fear.
At DogAAt unlike other training institutes they make sure you are comfortable and at ease with the dogs.
Thankyou DogAAt Team and especially Nachiket for the simple techniques of approaching the pets as well as the strays and helping not just me but many like me to overcome their fears.

I attended an event called "Pawsplay" conducted by Doggat at IFWB. The session was insightful wherein i got to know about the emotional benefits of Therapy Animals and the fundamentals of Dog psychology. I realised that something as basic as listening to a dog's heartbeat can prove to be such a big stress buster. All in all, it was an interactive, fun and informative event where we got to see and experience how to treat and get treated by dogs! Highly recommended!!

We are training our dog Tuffy under the guidance of Nachiket. He helped us to understand canine psychology and training. I have found the information he shares very helpful while training my reactive dog. His practical, non-judgemental advice and directions have made a huge difference for us in a very short time.
